Daniel Castle is a long-term team member at Merriwa and is excited to be receiving his 10 Year Service Award at the Merriwa’s Awards Night.
Daniel says “It seems like yesterday I just started at Merriwa and I can’t believe it’s been 10 years. I’m 32 next year! But, I enjoy coming to work everyday and seeing my friends and it will be pretty special to receive my award at the awards night”.
Daniel commenced work at Merriwa in the Packaging Division and at the time only knew a few people but is now a well known team member across all the divisions, “Each week I catch up with my friends at work and sometimes we meet up socially outside of work too”, Daniel continues.
He has worked at Plants 2 and 3 in Packaging and also in Timbers at Greta Road and Gibson Street. Daniel speaks positively about all the skills he has learnt in his time at Merriwa, “I’ve done everything from racking the timber for the kilns at Gibson Street, to working on the lines and food rooms in Packaging, and also working on the end-matcher at Greta Road Timbers”.
He continues to develop his skills and now has a role in Packaging which has extended to him learning about Quality control on products.
Outside of work at Merriwa, Daniel plays footy for the Merriwa Magpies all abilities team and enjoys playing in the forward pocket, he especially loves playing in the rain! He has recently started boxing and is keen to continue this as a new hobby to keep him fit.
When it comes to his future at Merriwa, he would love to obtain his Forklift License and work in the Warehouse at Packaging, and is currently completing a Certificate II in Warhousing. Congratulations Daniel on 10 Years of Service at Merriwa!
