While some of what is in store for Maria Wadley, Park Lane Nursery Manager as she embarks on the Alpine Valleys Community Leadership Program (AVCLP) seem a bit scary, she’s excited by the challenge.
Maria is undertaking the year-long program designed to grow the leadership capacity and the voice of people and communities in this region.
“I am excited about future challenges in the program even though, some of them are outside my comfort zone – an introvert’s worst nightmare you might say,” Maria said.
“I am looking forward to working through these things that historically I found somewhat terrifying,” she said.
“I am excited to be a part of this program and from speaking with past participants, I see the impact it has had on their lives and community contribution. I feel very privileged to have been chosen for this program.
“I see it having a really positive influence on me, improving my personal leadership skills and giving a greater understanding of effective management practices that now I am passing on to my team.
“I have enjoyed building rapport with other people in the program and learning about this beautiful region we live in. Community contribution I believe is paramount in these times.”
